The Problem

# A Partner to Advance a Struggling LMS Implementation

A utility company was struggling to implement a new learning management system (LMS) on time and manage its implementation partner. Three issues arose: the go-live date couldn't shift due to regulatory commitments, the team was struggling to advance the project, and the client executives were losing confidence. Propeller consultants were brought in eight weeks before go-live to oversee the implementation partner and ensure a successful launch.

OUR APPROACH

# A Phased Approach to Meet Deadlines and User Needs

Propeller started by reviewing and clarifying the project’s goals with the team and sponsors and analyzed the implementation partner’s statement of work. During a day-long stakeholder workshop, Propeller presented our phased approach to meet the upcoming regulatory commitments in phase one and then address long-term end-user needs in a later phase. Our team ensured executive buy-in, streamlined communications across eight business areas and four technical departments, and lead the implementation partner relationship to meet all deadlines. Last we restructured steering committee reviews to provide weekly visibility into scope, schedule, and budget forecasts.

# A Successful, On-Time LMS Launch

With Propeller’s partnership, the LMS was rolled out on time for both project phases. This new system enabled the client to transition from manual processes with decentralized access into one single system for training, testing, and record-keeping, saving valuable time for managers and instructors. This new system also ensured compliance with licenses and qualifications. Overall, Propeller managed a team of 30+ stakeholders, streamlined 25 processes, conducted 40 test scenarios encompassing 600+ test scripts, delivered a 49-page knowledge transition document, and oversaw 50+ job aides.
