The Problem
# A Path to a More Effective Organization and Operating Model
The direct-to-consumer division at a leading retailer was pivotal to the organization’s business model. The division was increasing revenue year over year and acquiring customers through several new incremental channels. This growth prompted a need to implement and adopt an updated future state strategy, standardize and align the process, assess existing tools used by various teams within the divisions, and ultimately chart a path to a more highly effective organization and operating model.
The Approach
# Driving Alignment to Guide Strategy and Implement a New Operating Model
Propeller was brought on to help the retailer achieve the steady state organizational operation and success they sought. To begin, Propeller partnered with leadership to conduct workshops to identify gaps and opportunities and drive alignment on the organizational vision and resulting operating model. Additionally, the Propeller team digested recommendations from a global consulting firm to merge with the current state realities of the team to ensure the program formation could predictably and reasonably deliver success. To guide the impacted teams, Propeller led the team through program creation, governance, work initiatives, timelines, ownership, dependencies, and the resulting change management. Next, an impact assessment that included processes, tools, and job roles was conducted and resulted in a firm understanding of what was needed to move the team to the future state. Finally, by employing a people, process, and technology focus, the new strategy and operating model were introduced, tracked, and adopted in the subsequent months.
