Janel Wellborn is a Senior Director at Propeller with nearly 30 years of experience helping organizations clarify strategy, scale product capabilities, and strengthen how teams work. She’s known for bringing focus and momentum to complex initiatives, particularly where product, technology, and organizational change intersect.
Janel partners with executive leaders and cross-functional teams to modernize operating models, improve product and delivery effectiveness, and embed customer-centered decision-making. Her work spans product-led transformation, organizational design, leadership development, and change leadership. More recently, she has helped teams apply AI in practical, thoughtful ways — improving decision-making and speed to market without losing the human-centered foundation of the work.
Before joining Propeller, Janel held senior product and transformation leadership roles at Gap Inc., Macy’s, and Walmart, where she led large-scale digital and eCommerce initiatives. She also spent nearly a decade leading her own consulting practice, advising product, engineering, and executive leaders on product maturity and organizational effectiveness. In parallel, she serves as a Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley, teaching product management and organizational leadership.
